Fashion Cents Review
by Kathy Salisbury
A beautiful game for girls of all ages, Fashion Cents starts up with a bright splash of color, and four adorable girl models in really cute outfits, ready to shop!
Ironically, I'm not much of a shopper in real life, but I love this game! I have to wonder if I'm in my second childhood -- Fashion Cents definitely brought out the little girl in me.
True, the game doesn't try to teach anything in particular, but after a hard day of studying, a girl just wants to have some fun! Good, clean fun it is too, as the models are quite tastefully done. It's refreshing to see models that don't look like Barbie for a change.
The colors made me feel happy right away, since I love lavenders, lilacs and pinks. But you can choose all kinds of nifty clothing, from bright yellow to lime green, neon orange to midnight blue.
The game is very easy to play. I didn't even read the tutorial - just started playing (but that's a bad habit of mine!). There were ten girl models on the screen. A cute little red skirt appeared in the box at the top. I dragged the skirt to the first girl, and voila! she was wearing the skirt. Next a floppy blue hat appeared in the box. Just to see what would happen, I dragged it down to the same girl. "Ooooh!" said the game. That didn't work too well.
I quickly got the hang of it, and after the first game, I developed my strategy. I tried to keep as much as I could in the extra boxes across the top, and only start dressing a girl after I had some coordinated pieces lined up. As we all know, white goes with everything, so I held those back for emergencies - when I almost had an outfit completed, and had nothing else to match.
If I had two items that were the same (for example, if I had two pairs of turquoise sandals) I would use a pair of scissors to eliminate one of the duplicates. It's good to have coordination and variety in your wardrobe!
A happy little game that girls are sure to love, Fashion Cents gets my stamp of approval. The game is quite addictive too. I was surprised to see so much time had passed while I was absorbed in playing it.
I am so depressed now because I have to get back to work! But I am keeping Fashion Cents on my desktop to play whenever I need a break, need cheering up, or need to remember we're all just kids at heart.
