NumBlocks Review: Classic Breakout-Style Game And More
by Kathy Salisbury
If you're a classic gaming fan, then you'll enjoy this beautiful Breakout clone.
Breakout was one of the early blockbuster (no pun intended!) titles in video game history.
Atari released Breakout in 1976 - practically prehistoric by today's computer game standards.
But the format proved enduring. As other videogame formats come and go, Breakout remained popular. And it evolved- oh yes! Arkanoid was released by Nintendo about 10 years later, and Taito expanded into a multitude of popular variations.
NumBlocks is the latest Breakout-style game to be released for Windows, with considerably more bells and whistles. For good old-fashioned videogame fun with all the great multimedia advantages of Direct X and today's PC power, you can't go wrong with NumBlocks.
The full version of NumBlocks has 100 levels of fun. The graphics are striking (yes again - no pun intended!) The play ball bounces around the screen with realistic precision, its golden comet-like tale following behind it. The music and sound effects are a nice backdrop that add even more enjoyment to the game.
